Weight control is a major issue for millions of people around the world. They want to shed pounds, but they simply don’t know how.
If you fall into this category, here’s some really good news …
You don’t have to know how to do it. You just have to know two things—where you’re going and that you will get there.
Andrew Carnegie said, “Any idea that is held in the mind, that is emphasized, that is either feared or revered, will begin at once to cloth itself in the most convenient and appropriate form available.”
Now hook that idea up with something that R. Buckminster Fuller said …
“Never change things by fighting existing reality … to change something build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.”
So rather than agonizing about how you’re going to lose the weight, start thinking about where you are going. Build a new model.
How do you do that?
By doing two things: create an image of you at your perfect weight in your mind and the dialogue to support that image.
You’ve got to see yourself in the clothes you want to wear. Picture the number on the scale you want, having more energy and people complimenting you. Build a clear image of you looking and feeling fantastic.
You also must develop a new way of speaking to yourself and others. Otherwise, you will sabotage yourself with negative self-image dialogue.
For instance, stop using words like “dieting” and “losing weight.” You don’t want to diet! What you want is to be at a healthy weight. Focus on what you want.
And did you know that your mind is programmed to look for anything you lose? I don’t care if it’s the keys to your car or a few pounds that you’ve shed. So always use the term “releasing weight” when you are talking to yourself and with others.
Write a description of your new image on a card—the weight you want to be, the size clothes you’ll wear and how you’ll look and feel. Create affirmations using words like releasing weight, enjoying healthy foods, perfect weight and vibrant.
Read your card and affirmations several times a day. See yourself as already being at your perfect weight, and looking, feeling and behaving in a healthy way. Get emotionally involved with these ideas.
Do these things and you will transform your body. Not by forcing yourself to diet or do other things you don’t want to do, but by building a new model in your marvelous mind.
This might seem overly simplistic, but the body is the instrument of the mind. When we build an image in our mind, our body HAS to express it. The transformation happens by law.
Read what Napoleon Hill said about what happened when Andrew Carnegie first asked him to study the habits of hundreds of America’s richest men, and then work out a master plan for achieving wealth and happiness …
Hill said, “When the idea was first planted in my mind by Mr. Carnegie, it was coaxed and nursed and enticed to remain alive. Gradually the idea became a giant under its own power, and it coaxed, nursed and drove me. Ideas are like that. First you give life and action and guidance to ideas, then they take on a power of their own and sweep aside all opposition.”
Isn’t that a beautiful idea?
Give life to your idea of being at the perfect weight. I promise it will take on a power of its own.
