Can we really control our destiny?
The great poets and philosophers of the past have told us many times that we can.
In a nutshell, here’s a time-tested way to do it:
- Decide what you want.
- Write a statement indicating that you’re already in possession of your desire.
- Repeat the statement aloud several times a day with a strong feeling of gratitude.
- Expect to see the desire materialize in your physical world and have faith that it’s coming.
By repeating the statement in the present tense, you’re depositing an image of what you want in the treasury of your subconscious mind.
And by impressing that image with strong, positive feelings of gratitude (I’m so happy and grateful now that…), you are giving it the energy it needs to materialize. Your subconscious mind, then, does all the work for and through you.
The beauty of this process is…
You don’t have to know how to get what you want.
All the writings, teachings and demonstrations through time indicated that the “how” is irrelevant.
What matters is how you think and feel.
By thinking about what you want in the present tense, having positive feelings, and taking one step at a time (which is trusting the process), the “how” will take care of itself.
Know your desire is yours
Take a few minutes today to think of something you truly want to be, do, or have.
Then follow the steps above.
As you write down your desire, think about how you’ll feel when you have it. Actually, feel the feelings. Hold these positive feelings as you read your statement throughout the day. Really feel the energy and excitement swirling inside you as you read it.
See your materialized desire in your mind. Use your imagination to feel it, touch it, smell it, hear it, and even taste it.
And, most importantly, know your desire is yours. It is critical that you have 100 percent belief that your desire will take form.
Stop… and do this if you have doubts
If you can’t bring yourself to believe you’ll achieve the goal you just wrote down, it’s okay.
Listen, everyone is different.
Some people believe they can become a multi-millionaire the day after they graduate from college. And others may never believe it.
So what’s happening when you want to be a multi-millionaire, but you don’t believe it will ever happen?
You’re sending out conflicting signals…
For a short while, you vibrate an intention of making the money you desire. But then, you send a counter intention that you’ll never make that much money. And the second intention is more emotionalized because it’s part of your paradigm.
The result, of course, is that you won’t get what you say you want until you believe, and get emotionally involved with, the idea of being a multi-millionaire.
So… what should you do if you have doubts?
Find a goal that is in your sweet spot!
This entire process of setting goals and taking actions to control our destiny is about growth and feeling good about life.
Having doubts not only keeps you from growing and reaching your goal, but it also makes you feel bad. And whenever you feel bad, you’re in a negative vibration.
So let’s do something to fix that…
Find a quiet place where you can relax for a few minutes. Let go of any tension, and make a list of all the things you would want if money wasn’t an object or if you knew you couldn’t fail.
Write down everything that comes to mind—from buying your dream house to starting a business to learning a foreign language. Get it all down on the paper.
Next, on a scale of 1 to 5, rate each item on the list in terms of your level of desire. If you have a burning desire for it, give it a 5. If you’d like to have it, but it doesn’t excite you very much, give it a 1.
Then, go back and rate the level of your belief in attaining each item. If you think it’s impossible or nearly impossible to get it, give it a 1. If you wholeheartedly believe you can get it, give it a 5. And so on.
Now, scan your list and pick a goal that is a burning desire AND scores a 3 or 4 on your believability scale.
This goal is in the “sweet spot.” You really, really want it, and you believe, with some amount of stretching, you can get it.
Use this desire as the first step in the four-step process above, and then do steps 2 through 4 to create the results you want.
What if you don’t have a burning desire?
For this exercise to work, you must come up with something you have a burning desire for.
If you can’t think of anything, carry a notebook with you and whenever you think of something you’d like, write it down.
Every now and then, review the list to see if anything you’ve written down is a burning desire. If so, decide what your belief level is.
If your believability is a 3 or 4, use this goal as the basis for your statement.
Success breeds confidence
Whenever you do something successfully for the first time, and it works, your belief goes up.
It happened when you learned to ride a bike and started using computers.
And it will happen when you consciously use this 4-step process to create the things you want and start to control your destiny.
Once you see the magic happen—a goal you didn’t know how to achieve becomes a reality, you gain confidence in the process.
Things will start to shift in your life…
You’ll start going for bigger and bigger dreams. And you’ll start to feel more powerful and joyful.
Your expectations for abundance coming into your life will increase. And before long, ANY burning desire will fall in your sweet spot because your belief will be sky high. Instead of being doubtful, you’ll say, “I’m going for it!”
Success is just a decision away. Decide to go for a goal that is in your sweet spot, focus on it, and know that it’s going to happen.
To more and better,
