Thought Is the Spark That Feeds the Flames to Your Success

“You can be anything you want to be, if only you believe with sufficient conviction and act in accordance with your faith; for whatever the mind can conceive and believe, the mind can achieve.”– Napoleon Hill

The difference between someone who is a success and someone who is a failure is whether or not they have a goal. If you have a goal, you will succeed because you know where you are going. People fail when they have no goal and allow their life to be shaped by their circumstances. People who fail often blame others for their failure. “If I had a better teacher I would have gotten an A in my class instead of a D.”“If my boss wasn’t so prejudiced I would have a better chance for advancement in my career.”“If my wife would stop buying cookies maybe I could lose weight.”

None of these statements hold any merit if you take control and set your mind on what you want. Your success starts the moment you define your goal. Giving definition to what it is that you want sets you on the path to achieving it.

The first step is thinking that first thought. That first thought is the match you strike to ignite the flame of desire to reach your goal. That spark starts the process that will lead to the manifestation of your success.

For you to be truly successful you must form an emotional connection to the goal you wish to achieve. You should choose a goal that stems from your own deep desires and not a desire to please those around you. This may take some doing if you have been conditioned to think that what you want is achievable.

You need to determine what exactly it is that you want. Be as specific as possible. Do you want to be successful in business? Do you want to double your income? Do you want to be thin and healthy? A new home, a new car? It’s up to you. The possibilities are endless.

Now that you have that spark of an idea you need to fan it into a flame. A flame needs fuel to continue to burn. That fuel is your visualization of your goal. Take that spark of a thought and write it down on a card that you will have easy access to. Write down what it is and just as important, what it will feel like when you have it. Be sure to clearly define what you want. Take time every day, several times a day, to visualize what it will feel like to have what you desire. The more detail you can give, the more fuel you add to the fire. It is imperative that you fill every fiber of your being with your new desire. This is where you build your emotional connection. Your thoughts become an energy…a vibration…that will start to attract that which you desire.

If you desire more money, think about what it feels like to have a larger income. What will you buy? If it is a thin, healthy body you desire, visualize how it feels to have that body. What kinds of clothes will you wear? How do you feel when you look in the mirror? Imagine your success as if you already have it. You don’t need all the details of how you will get there from here. Those details will take care of themselves as you continue to visualize every day.

Every morning when you wake and just before going to bed at night, take out your card and read what you wrote. Take a few moments to visualize as if you are already at your goal. Take your card out during the day as well. Be sure to think positive thoughts about your goal. There will be times when negative thoughts or doubts will creep in. Don’t be alarmed. This is human nature. Life has a tendency to get in our way sometimes. Things happen that can distract us from our goal. Fear of the unknown can throw a monkey wrench into the works. Most people fail to achieve success because they continuously give their attention to negative thoughts. Acknowledge those thoughts and then replace them with positive thoughts. As you continue this cycle it will become easier to deliberately choose better-feeling thoughts.

As you continue to do this every day amazing things will start to happen. Your subconscious mind will start to recognize the people, places, and things that are needed for your success and draw them to you. Remember, you don’t have to know all the details; your subconscious mind will fill those in for you as you go along.

The most successful people started with a desire and believed it would happen. They didn’t worry about how it would happen or all the people around them who told them it was impossible. They had a vision and believed, with every fiber of their being, until it manifested.

Think about all the modern-day conveniences that we have: cell phones, internet, smart TVs, transcontinental flight, men and women in space. We would have none of these things if someone hadn’t taken a moment to have that first spark of a thought. Honestly, the progress we have made in the last 100 years is staggering if you stop to ponder it.

What if the Wright brothers never took their flying machine to Kitty Hawk? What if they listened to all the naysayers and disbelievers?

What if Thomas Edison gave up during his 10,000 failures to find a working light bulb?

Your success is limited only by your ability to imagine what could be. It doesn’t matter if no one has ever done it before or if no one else believes it can happen. It matters only what you can imagine, desire, and visualize into being.

What is your success going to be? What is your desire? Find your spark. Define it and fuel your flame with your imagination until it becomes a roaring bonfire of reality.
