I’ve got a question for you…
Do you believe you can achieve your dreams? If you’re like most people, the answer is no.
Well, here’s the truth…
If you can tell me what you want, I can show you how to get it.
You may think that’s an arrogant statement, but it’s really not.
I learned it in the early 1960s when I picked up Earl Nightingale’s Strangest Secret recording. That’s when I first heard that statement. Earl said, “If you can tell me what you want, I can tell you how to get it.”
As I listened to it back then, I thought, “This can’t be true!”
But I was wrong.
You see, it doesn’t matter whether you want a pony for the kids, a Maserati, a successful business, or a loving relationship. It all comes to you in the same way— by law. I know it’s true because I’ve been studying and living it for 60 years. It’s a science that produces consistent and predictable results.
Awareness is key
Many successful people do not fully understand how they got there. That’s what is called unconscious competence—doing something well without awareness of how you do it.
When I first started to change my life, I studied all kinds of personal development material. And my life began to change like night and day. At first, I didn’t understand why or how I had done it.
However, I was fortunate to have four or five mentors who knew how to get any result they wanted, and they were interested in teaching others how to do it. My mentors not only changed the course of my life, but they also showed me how and why my life was changing.
Here’s why that’s important…
See, if a successful person is an unconscious competent, they can’t pass what they know on to their children because they don’t understand what they’re doing—success is just a habit. So, you may have parents that are consistently creating the life they want with children who are struggling.
However, if a person is a conscious competent—aware of what they’re doing and can explain it, they can show others how to get what they want. When you’re consciously competent, you can connect the dots that led to your success.
Two things you must know
We are designed to want better, to want more.
To get what YOU want, you need to know two things…
1. where you are now and
2. where you want to go
Your starting point
Let’s start with where you are now.
Take a few minutes to think about the results you are currently getting. Look at your relationships, the amount of money you are making, the state of your health, etc. Look at them from a neutral place—not positive or negative. Just be honest with yourself, so you can determine where you are.
I want you to be clear that your current results are what you deserve because they’re what you’re in harmony with.
However, the beautiful thing is no matter where you are right now, you are nowhere near where you can go. You can go anywhere you want to go.
You might not believe that right now, and that’s okay.
I didn’t believe my first mentor when he told me that I could get any results I wanted. I thought he was crazy or lying to me.
But you know what?
My mentor believed it; he believed in me. And so, I borrowed his belief until I developed it for myself. And that’s what I’m asking you to do right now. Borrow my belief in you until you demonstrate it for yourself with your new results.
What do you really want!?
Now, it’s time to take the second step…
I want you to think about what you really want. Not what you think you can achieve. Not what your current or previous results indicate. No, go inside and start to fantasize about what you really want—as if there were no limits.
Set your sights far above what is reasonable… or practical… or probable. Aim for the extraordinary, for that which is precious to you. What excites you enough to move you into action?
You see, if you’re not in love with your dream, it’s doubtful that you’ll ever achieve it. Passion starts the process, and caring enough keeps you going. So, let desire rather than intellect set your direction and how far you go.
Don’t worry about how it’s going to happen. Leave that up to God and universal law. Just dream it, fall in love with the idea, and make a committed decision that it is how you’re going to live no matter what. Feel it as if it has already happened.
If you take those steps, I promise that the details of “how” to achieve your dream will take care of themselves. And it will happen by law.
To your success,
Bob Proctor
