Stop. What are you thinking right now?
Are your thoughts of Fear or Faith?
Of Poverty or Prosperity?
Do you think you can, or do you think you can’t?
We have all heard the famous quote by Henry Ford: “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t, you’re right.”
A little while ago I found myself going down the rabbit hole of fear and poverty thinking. I was either replaying events of the past or worrying about the future. Completely ignoring the present moment. And we all know that it’s in the present moment where we create.
Thinking about the past and worrying about the future attracted a series of events that was leading me to repeat the past. Fear was keeping me awake at night. How was I going to pay my bills? My rent was due. Where was the money going to come from? How much credit do I have? Is it enough until I figure something out? How did I ever get myself back in this position? A position I swore I would never find myself in again!
Why do we do this to ourselves? We know that what we focus on we create more of.
I decided that I had had enough. That’s the first step, making a decision. It was time to “get my mind right” as I like to say. What does that mean? How do you get your mind right?
After making the decision, the next step is to become aware of our thoughts.
I realized that I had stopped checking in. I had unconsciously allowed the negative, fearful, worrisome thoughts to take over. And sure enough, what I was thinking was becoming out pictured in my life.
“Thoughts become things. If you see it in your mind, you will hold it in your hand.” Bob Proctor
So, I began to monitor my thoughts, check them regularly. I put up post-it notes to remind myself to be vigilant.
Next, I made a list. I listed all the worrisome thoughts in one column, then all the things I had to be grateful about in another column, and then I compared the two columns. Well, here is the interesting thing, 90% of the items were in the gratitude column and 10% were in the worry column. I had allowed the 10% to control my thoughts! That was an eye-opener. I then began to shift my focus to all I had to be grateful for. Choose to be grateful, and you’ll find much to be grateful for.
Then, a funny thing happened. I shifted my perspective. I began to focus on the positive. I began to realize all that I can do, all that I have. I focused on all the abundance around me. I focused on my skills, my business acumen, the fact that I CAN create. Business opportunities began appearing. People were appearing in my life to help me. They didn’t really appear, it’s just that with my shift in perception I NOTICED them.
With my renewed faith and prosperity focus, I took ACTION! I decided to live fully and enjoy each moment. I focused on my business, on the wonderful people in my life, on the help that comes when we are open to receiving. Help that comes from the strangest, most unexpected places!
Every day we are blessed with the experience of life. In every moment, in every situation, we have a choice to make. We must choose our thoughts. What will you choose to think about and focus on today?
So, what are you thinking right now?
